Day of the Tentacle, also known as Maniac Mansion II: Day of the Tentacle, is a 1993 graphic adventure game developed and published by LucasArts. It is the sequel to the 1987 game Maniac Mansion. The game's plot follows Bernard Bernoulli and his friends Hoagie and Laverne as they attempt to stop the evil Purple Tentacle--a sentient, disembodied tentacle--from taking over the world. The player takes control of the three and solves puzzles while using time travel to explore different periods of history.
Plays on Linux with the use of SCUMMVM or DOSBox. Both are free and easy-to-use.

I played this game as a kid and it was one of my favorite games. Now in adulthood, I was excited to be able to play Day of the Tentacle again -- I loved it just as much! This game involves an interesting story line and requires you to move between different worlds, find items, and use them to solve problems and help the characters. Once you get sucked in, it is so hard to quit!

I don't normally play adventure games but I love this one! Once I started it was so fun that I couldn't stop until I beat it. This game is a sequel to Maniac Mansion, however the original is included with this. I haven't played Maniac Mansion yet though.
Don't just take it from me: This game is so good that they build an interpreter just to be able to play it on Linux (SCUMMVM). I used both scummvm and dosbox and the game played great on both although I'd recommend scummvm.
