Make a Basic Site to Accept Payments

I had a request for a guide to setting up a basic website to accept credit card payments so here we go...

First thing you need is a credit card processor; we will use google checkout (studies show people hate paypal, and I do personally as well). The account is free. Visit checkout.google.com and sign up.

Specify your bank account in google checkout so your money can be deposited.

Next you need a host for your site.  Use google search to find a free web host, preferrably with no forced ads and with an online wysiwyg (what-you-see-is-what-you-get) editor. Pick from any of the hundreds. Don't expect anything great; they're free, remember?

Create your site with the editor. You just need one page with whatever information you need on it describing why people should give you money.

In google checkout under the tools tab, there is the "buy now buttons" link. Use it to create button code that needs to be included on your newly-created web page.  The editor ought to have an option for you to add custom code, if not, ask them for help or find a new host, because the one you picked probably sucks.
